You know when you register for this forum, and you click the link in the email and it makes you set a password?
Well, the password shows up in the text box, which is proper insecure exposing your new password to anybody who might be looking. A bit like that feeling you get when you go down the shops and realise you forgot to wear any pants (we’ve all done that, right? Right?!)
(using Chrome, Win7, if it makes any difference).
February 3, 2016 at 11:16 am #257I think not having the logins or password resets be secured by SSL is a bit more of a security issue that should be focused on; but at least with WordPress you can be assured they’re stored as hashes in the DB. So as long as packets aren’t copied along the path…
I digress, this is all important, but meh.
Edit: Doesn’t CloudFlare provide free SSL certificates now? The site should just be secured with CloudFlare. It’s a great service.

February 4, 2016 at 10:34 am #265Ahoy.
I moved to Unity for a bit cos I wanted to do 3D stuff again, but that sort of went tits-up when I approached the now defunct Mastertronic and Team 17, just to open the lines of communication rather than hatch a deal, and neither even had the courtesy to reply. Given that since Rezzed two years ago and following certain devs on Twitter, I’d already thought that the game dev world was very cliquey and full of pretentious people deluded in their own importance (note: NOT all of them!), so I did a u-turn on the whole thing and quit game dev completely last year. The thing with Rezzed, was that a lot of devs I spoke to there, as soon as I mentioned I did casual games for Big Fish etc, they looked at me the same way they’d look at the sole of their shoe after treading in a dog turd, and I didn’t like that. We bought two 3-day passes for Rezzed and went for the whole first day, didn’t go at all the second day, and about 2 hours on the last day.
So I spent the last six months or so setting up a clothing business doing personalised t-shirts and hoodies, schoolwear, workwear, that kind of thing. It’s plodding along OK but for 4 weeks end of December to mid-January it was stone-dead, so I used the free time to pick up Blitzmax and have a play with that again. My stress levels are way down now on what they used to be, just for having something different to do with my life.
March 1, 2016 at 8:57 pm #287Im plodding through Star rogue still using MonkeyX at present, was going to use Unity BUT the 2d side of it isnt as good as monkey for amount you can render and how quick you can get it on screen. I do have a C++ engine as well but its Win32/64 only at present and I dont have time to port it to all targets at present so Monkey it is :).
Im also gonna look at monkeyX2 as well as this does seem to be a nice addition to the whole system and if it can be used to bring max into the whole thing it will be a welcome change
