loop, testing level structures with sensors (for OS X). Input: esc,f,space. Image
This one is passive but active.
[hint: Marc ten Bosch’s Miegak?re]
Video games were still young and fresh in the 80s whilst maturing throughout the decade a lot. The dusk of the VCS2600, the C64, the Amiga and the Arcades offered a wide variety of great and new games. A golden era for video games, until the 90s introduced visually compelling mainstream 3d and changed the rules. Good luck for getting back on track.
The idea was to mix pink clouds with news about trump.
As a president he has a higher position. The pink clouds represent how our climate is threatend and how he reaches out for, let’s say love. If I hadn’t run out of time, there would have been earth in the middle below, with few white clouds turning into many pink ones (got the globe almost finished). The broken train represents the trump train. The longer it rolls, the more it was supposed to fall to pieces (structure, engine’s smoke) but it needed more iterations to tweak it nice, so i reduced it to the static behaviour. The trail should be insecure. I exchanged buttholes for nozzles for a less explicit scene. I also wanted it to look simple and friendly. Ideally the clouds would be linked more to the music (The Will To Death, no time for my own). Not to mention the things you could do with a serious sound engine.
Smoke of the train would have worked as well but I was focused on clouds.
Anyway I like it. Part of the fun of doing these tryouts is having a limited amount of time (when there is some), starting with a rough idea (to test something) and then just let yourself go. It’s more fun than making a game jam because you get bored if a game idea doesn’t click or when you realise that it needs a lot more time to do it right.
So, what are you monkey2 using for?
dump, layers of dynamic/static/kinematic objects and stuff (for OS X). Input: esc. Image
I was watching the news, it’s supposed to be messed up. Hey Jesse, pink clouds!
[hint: Thimbleweed Par?]
Okay, i get your point.
[Admit it, these pink clouds sound seductive.]
Actually it’s also supposed to add some fun and seems to work for puzzle oriented minds. If it’s a show stopper for many others i would change it, but I suspect the next one wants binaries for windows, documented sources, pink clouds … and the idea is just to easily share some of the fun/experiences (afore audio related) I had with monkey2.
Docs and BRL, this kind of reminds me of … 1 2.
Working on something which might only get live doesn’t sound motivating. How do people easily access these docs? (How) will they be merged with new docs from Mark? How about something like BlitzMax’s WikiBook? You could create/update/consume this nicely (your own content + export of Mark’s docs + references to original docs + links to users’ external content). Once there is substance and Mark hasn’t improved the docs on his own, it might make its way into the docs. If not, at least it’s available on the net.
Ideally Mark would offer more docs and there would be a strategy plus communication on how to address the situation best in the future.
Are these really hard to ‘solve’?
ausflugmachenistschwer, Playing around with vehicles. Here’s my first one (for OS X). Input: esc. Image
Truly inspired by Ausflug. Uahh …

sloale, I was curious about the phy/sfx/ide-changes in V1.1.01. So, i finally applied my IDE customizations from V1.0.8 and had a go. Input: esc,f,space Image
Very similar to the last one but with hard colls, a C64 mood and stuff which isn’t visible.

ccc, having some chipmunk fun. Made with V1.08 for OS X. Input: esc,f,space. Image

Nope, didn’t work. I’ll take a break until full retina support shows up. Thanks for your help.
@blog
retina:
Retina displays are around since more than 4/6 years. I really would like to see proper out of the box support. The low res strains the eyes and makes ted2 look dated. Your first contact with m2 is via ted2, so, it matters.fullscreen:
#1 Choosing resolutions smaller than 1280×800 (here = 2880×1800) results to a) wrong clipping (visible plopping) and b) content which isn’t spread over the whole screen. Instead it seems to be the chosen resolution from the upper/left only partly covering a larger screen. #2 Returning from fullscreen mode to the OS results in broken active edges definitions on the right. No problem.
Due to your earlier post i thought you were interested in implementing one. Anyway you might want to give the links i did post a try. If you have problems with the installation, there should be videos on how-to-install/what’s it all about on youtube.
Maybe Mark, when fixing bugs and enhancing ted2, finds some of these features (like the color thing) interesting for ted2 too.
