I only set my account up here to stop any of you scumbags nicking it.
What Ed said. A decent, complete 3D module is worth $100 of anyone’s money, and more. Maybe this Patreon thing works out better, I dunno? The crowdfunding concept is all a bit alien to me.
I remember when all this was fields, etc…
Don’t know but I would not think or expect it to be free. Mark doesn’t live in a bin. He has bills, like the rest of us.
Ok that makes sense. Thanks for the info.
As an aside, is there any documentation I can read to familiarise myself with monkey2, without asking a ton of noob questions?
Is this an imminent thing?
Oh hello.
Ahoy.
I moved to Unity for a bit cos I wanted to do 3D stuff again, but that sort of went tits-up when I approached the now defunct Mastertronic and Team 17, just to open the lines of communication rather than hatch a deal, and neither even had the courtesy to reply. Given that since Rezzed two years ago and following certain devs on Twitter, I’d already thought that the game dev world was very cliquey and full of pretentious people deluded in their own importance (note: NOT all of them!), so I did a u-turn on the whole thing and quit game dev completely last year. The thing with Rezzed, was that a lot of devs I spoke to there, as soon as I mentioned I did casual games for Big Fish etc, they looked at me the same way they’d look at the sole of their shoe after treading in a dog turd, and I didn’t like that. We bought two 3-day passes for Rezzed and went for the whole first day, didn’t go at all the second day, and about 2 hours on the last day.
So I spent the last six months or so setting up a clothing business doing personalised t-shirts and hoodies, schoolwear, workwear, that kind of thing. It’s plodding along OK but for 4 weeks end of December to mid-January it was stone-dead, so I used the free time to pick up Blitzmax and have a play with that again. My stress levels are way down now on what they used to be, just for having something different to do with my life.
