Oh yeah great idea, thanks. And the player can tell easier which messages are older or newer.

    Thanks AdamStrange!

Good to hear the maps are a bit better. I have a lot of awesome ideas for maps once I get around to overhauling it.

Also yea, I might need to put a placeholder quest system in to help keep it feeling fresh until I can work on the final quest system.

With enough time I envision the player choosing quests (Retrieve the Golden Fleece, Rid us of the Minotaur, etc, etc) from a map. And for doing those quests the player is given renown. As renown builds a hero cult slowly builds around the player opening the opportunity for new game mechanics.

Hello everyone, I’ve finally released the second version: https://askewgames.itch.io/askesis

    https://askewgames.itch.io/askesis/devlog/50967/v020-stealth-released

It features passive/active stealth as the main feature, sneaking past sleeping monsters and finding hidden chests! And just a ton of small improvements to life like basic movement animations, and little emotes to let you know when things change (such as picking up gold or losing health)

    Thank you Mark.

There is one more issue I am experiencing, if I run the view layouts demo and then resize the window, it becomes rather odd to say the least.

Hey everyone, I posted a brief devlog about the update on itch.io: https://askewgames.itch.io/askesis/devlog/49756/about-stealth

I was hoping to the have this version released by now, but with Mojave blowing up a few things I think I will have to hold off for a bit longer than expected 🙂

I did a quick compile and found vsync and window resizing not to work on a 2D game. I will have to do more testing but that won’t be til later.

Thank you AdamStrange! You know, it never occurred to me to use Cmd Q to quit a game on a Mac, but you make a good point 🙂

Thanks kanati!  May I ask if you are on Windows or Mac?

To address, and maybe get some ideas, the slowdown are the monster taking their turn on screen. I’ve played a lot of rogue likes where I blow through a door and fail to let go of the keys before monsters gang me 🤣 I thought this might be a solution but without an animation of the monsters moving I think it was a bad choice. I will definitely do something about this next version!
