I think that got it. Looks like it is working as before (v1.1.0.4).
Thanks for making this all a priority. You-da-man. Going to be plugging in mojo3d into my Alien Phoenix project here soon which should be fun. So far testing mojo3d on my multiple monitor setup seems to work OK.

Sure..
It looks like an issue with scaling the light image. I have included two images of simplelight running on v1.1.0.5c and v1.1.0.4 which shows the different results when scaling a light image. I changed the following line in simplelight:
Monkey12345_light.Scale=New Vec2f( .5,.5 )'to_light.Scale=New Vec2f( 3.5,3.5 )Maybe it’s an issue with mipmapping? Is it off by default in v1.1.0.5c?

Hi,
Just did a lighting test with 1.1.0.5c.
The good news is lighting appears to work spanning across multiple monitors. The bad news is the lights are artifact-ed or blocky looking. It will do this in a single window (where the window matches the monitors resolution) or spanning monitors. There is also a shimmering effect when moving images. I’ve posted an image as an example. If needed I can record a video of the shimmering effect.
System: Linux Mint 17.2 Nvidia GTX 950.
Is it OK to report issues about the development branch on Github?
Edit: Hopefully you can see what I mean in the images.
Edit 2: The red and blue lights are scaled up to better show the stepping/blocky light issue.
@medi
Linux does indeed run Nvidia graphic cards and does it very well. I play War Thunder now and then and I love the wide screen experience that the three monitors provide. I prefer the 27″ size and it might be because I’m 6′ 3″ and they feel right to me. At 1080p the PPI (pixels per inch) is around 88 (27″ 1080p) with 100 being, I think, ideal. Scaling is an issue on all 4k (and 2K) monitors as the PPI is to high for most with regard to interfaces. I’m not partial to curved monitors as you really need an ultrawide (21:9) or maybe three 16:9’s for a surround experience. For me personally I find curved displays gimmicky.
The three 16:9 27″ monitors I have suit my work flow and I can’t imagine not having them after using them for a bit.
Here is a video of Monkey 2 / Alien Phoenix running on a triple monitor setup as mentioned above. I have lighting off because of a Monkey lighting issue but it looks pretty sweet even without it. There are hundreds of images / map objects in view and Monkey 2 hardly breaks a sweat.
Wide screen triple monitor video.
I have also included a screen shot at a resolution 5985×1080.
If Mark gets multiple monitor lighting going it will look even better.

I looked into getting an ultrawide like a 34″ in size. For my work flow and older eyes (ultawides are smaller in height and width and are 21:9) the three 27″ monitors were a better choice and price. I got all three monitors (HP IPS 1080p 6ms GTG) for less then $500 new.
I do love having them and running Gimp, Blender and Ted2GO (for example) on all separate monitors. Wide screen gaming rocks as well.
Hi,
As of version 1.104 this is still an issue. Lighting looks to lock-in at a default of the screen (monitor) it launches on. For example if you have multiple 1080p monitors mojo2 seems to lock lighting in at 1920×1080. Resize (or a static width) the window to say a larger width and any lighting beyond 1920 (width) will break.
With mojo3d in the works support for lighting in windows spanning multiple screens or monitors should be a concern. Would like to see this fixed for mojo2.
Picking up my third 27″ monitor today so hot to see mojo2 supporting above.
Rock on.
Hi,
I’ve been busy lately and you can read about why on the Phoenix USC FaceBook page.
I will be setting up a repository for this project on my GitHub page soon. At first code posted will be very much in a prototype state, but, it will also function well enough for experimentation. I will be catching up on Monkey2 changes I’ve missed and adapting code. I will post here when I have some code up.
Cheers.
If you have been out of the programming scene for awhile I would recommend starting out on Monkey-X. Unless you are feeling brave and can workout what to do based on the code examples (included in Monkey 2), documentation (a bit thin ATM but improving) and posts on the forum here. It certainly would not hurt to check Monkey 2 out as it’s free to use.
There is a nice base of video tutorials here for Monkey-X you might find helpful in getting started.
Good luck.
Good news. I have decided to release the GUI portion of this project as open source and free to use. It will still be some time before I finalize the GUI’s framework and provide documentation and examples. But, I will be working on it exclusively and post it on GitHub as soon as it is in a state for use. Once available I will be improving and adding features making it a work in progress, as at first it will be providing a limited feature set. My goal is to get it out there and open it for peer review, modifying code where possible as architectural conciseness is formed. I’ll provide a good start and try to tailor it to suit the needs of the community.
I hope you will find this GUI as useful as I do and I look forward to see it used in Monkey 2 games. Stay tuned.

Thought this thread I have made my position and motivations clear. Continuing to rehash or debate them serves no purpose at this point. It’s my hope that you and others see the benefits of any changes.
January 21, 2017 at 9:51 am in reply to: Maybe we should give up on the BlitzMax crowd and close the forum. #6689I believe it is important to note (IMHO) that changes to the BlitzMax forum and site are ‘NOT’ motivated by some elitist agenda but by concerns for personal welfare as well as product reputation. Subscribing to a sky-is-falling mentality or sensationalizing what are well justified actions is, I think, reaching well beyond the scope of the intent.
Blitz is now open source and free. Legacy infrastructure has been put in place to show good faith and a small financial investment made to secure the value of the archives and provide continued community for active users.
It’s also important to read what Simon has posted carefully. The sky is not falling and the response is well conceived.

January 21, 2017 at 1:51 am in reply to: Maybe we should give up on the BlitzMax crowd and close the forum. #6677I am encouraged by what Simon outlines and thankful. I hope this move brings back focus on the task at hand which is friendly discussion on language related topics.
Thank you for listening and taking action.

If a post was removed/edited , well then DaY’s comments may not have been out of place per-se.
Why am I pushing this discussion on the BlitzMax forum? It has a systemic issue with civility and decorum. For my part I see no point in perpetuating a culture of personal attacks and ill will. I and others should not subject to speech that crosses the line and makes individuals feel assaulted or the focus of unwanted and undeserved speech seemingly intended to harm. This culture of insensitive and at times harmful speech has no place in this forum or in the BlitzMax forum. It should not be tolerated or allowed in the world we live in today.
I believe I speak for many individuals participating in the BlitzMax forum that wish to have meaningful discussion free of speech that is intended to harm, bully or inhibit respectful and civil discussion. For my part I just can not idly sit by anymore and endure it. Why should I or any other individual be subject to a forum environment that allows speech as I’ve described it? It should be moderated and if that fails it should be closed.
I intend to bring light to this subject and change the dynamic.
