Widescreen (5760 x 1080) screen capture of Phoenix USC at a 3K resolution, 60fps on the Chromium web browser. If you look close in the upper left corner you can see the game engine is managing 2416 (lower positioned number) images per frame. Awesome! Alien Phoenix is performing well using Emscripten. Desktop performance in a web browser!  :O

Image available on Phoenix USC Facebbook or Twitter.

I’m currently testing the phoenix USC pre-alpha demo in early access. If you are interested (Monkey2 website members) let me know and somehow, I’ll get you a link to the demo. This demo will be WASM (Emscripten) based and run in your web browser at 1080p 60FPS. I think as a coder, you will be blown away by what Monkey2, Emscripten and Alien Phoenix can do. 😀

I am a week or two from releasing my Phoenix USC pre-alpha demo. It uses Alien Phoenix and goes a long way to showing off what this gaming framework can do. My goal for Alien Phoenix was to develop an integrated, efficient framework that supported 1000’s of collision objects, vast user maps and support for 2D and 3D lighting FX and more and to do it on a single CPU core. I can totally say that I have reached that goal. An additional goal was to integrate all this into a custom ‘Window’ based GUI; although not fully complete the GUI portion is really a center piece and has tied everything together proving that it is possible to include a window based GUI in your game with very little (like, very very little) cost to performance.

So keep an eye out for the Phoenix USC pre-alpha demo as it really shows off what this framework does. 🙂

I have some music going for the demo. 😀 I have sound working and will add a weapons fire sound effect. Checkout the enhanced lighting I added (red lights spin). All final touches to assets / look and feel to the pre-alpha demo out in the next week or so..

Are you developing on Linux? This can be an issue on Linux and relates to SDL2 as seen in the IDE when moving a divider.

I have a test game front-end going on ITCH.io (in webassembly/Emscripten). It’s sort of a place holder and allows me to test things. Check it out.

Checkout my website with scale-to-fit canvas to browser window view using Emscripten + Monkey2. Try resizing your browser and changing the website applications resolutions for fun and to see scaling in action.:>

Be sure to do a shift+reload button if you’ve visited before. After that it shouldn’t be a problem when I update. Also when a rescale is needed mouse movement, focus change or clicking on the canvas trigger the actual scaling.

With a bit more support on the socket end of things Monkey2 has a place in the WASM world. For certain applications using Monkey as the front end product is a good choice.

Scott Manley (YouTube channel) posted a tweet I sent him 😀 On his Twitter page.

I’m looking at a demo release the first part of September and am just now contacting software reviewers and others.

Latest development image (Wide-Screen 5760×1080) of Phoenix USC (uses Alien Phoenix). Lightened up the space background which gives better depth.

#2 image on IndieDB today. I’ve never seen one of my images on the image ‘top 4’ headline. 😀
