Very nice can’t wait to play with 3d in MX2
Debug mode has to catch div0 errors, even if its a simple check to see if the integer is 0 before a divide takes place it would be handy. Normally I always code to check for divide by 0 as its just me (harkens from my C days) but not all coders are so stringent.
I think if Mark recreated the plane demo from Blitz3d it would push MonkeyX2 into the mainstream along with posting the demo and video links all over the blitz forums etc
the more MX2 is out there the better after all things that vanish into the Internet don’t male loads. Coverage would be great for BRL and great for MX2 I would have two types of modules one has a “Made in MonkeyX2” and paid customers who have pledged would get access to modules that font have the Made logo.
Amazing stuff haven’t even downloaded the latest build yet lol
@ethernaut thank you very much will test it once I get the latest build and recompile
@nerobot that sounds interesting
Will look into it more and see what I can do with MonkeyX2
Ah brilliant thanks for that I will use that in my conversions
Hmm is there any way to scale images or grab sections of them as I can’t see that either, or do I have to write the OpenGL code for that?
I would have both one as a throw back should the primary (GLes3) fail. I first would code the primary and see where it goes from there the main upshot is your coding for the latest hardware meaning more time for coders to get going than coding for granny’s old phone which is pointless.
Heck as most here will know I’m an advocate for old hardware but even I don’t support 32bit now and to be honest I’m moving on from older system in favour of newer tech mainly as older GL versions have flaky driver support.
Thinking about it just whack in a GLES3 system and if someone wants lower maybe another patreon drive? I have Dx10 gpus here but to be honest I can see supporting outdated hardware as any good and certainly not good for future proofing MonkeyX2.
@difference I can see that GLES3 will be a contentious issue but if you want the best then Android 5.x+ is not a bad thing is it. If you jump to Unity it’s still a requirement over there if yoy want to do some of the decent stuff so it’s down to your preference to be honest.
@maverick69 I agree with you to a certain degree yes the languages are amazing pieces of code if it wasn’t for a few mishaps along the way it would be rock solid.
Mishaps being max3d, stating publicly that MonkeyX1 is flawed. Both of these things didn’t help BRLs rep but personally I hope MonkeyX2 actually takes off which is why I sent the PayPal donation (I would pledge if I could but at present finds are tighter than Italian waiters slacks).
I will continue to keep an eye on it though and will definitely look at mojo3d when it hits. One thing BRL are really good at is prototyping languages where you can quickly test an idea or effect in a few lines of code it’s their strongest point they put Rapid into the RAD acronym
yeah I agree fmod would be a nice addition to the mix and would bring it on par with blitz3d for audio capabilities which would be nice.
1) I’ve never had it crash in all the years I’ve been using it.
2) As for tracker support I haven’t used it.
3) it’s a basic system which can be added to as time goes on, yes it’s no longer in development and hasn’t been for ages now but it does the basics.
Fmod has changed licencing over the years and is indie friendly BUT iirc mark had issues with licencing in the past as programming languages are a grey area.
Looks good, video is certainly a good selling tool for Pyro 2 and MonkeyX2
