procedural star systems and make a whole game around that, this would bring Star Rogue on a much smaller footprint than other systems.
I downloaded the latest version last night and recompiled but typing things in it for example:
'test
being after the t at the end and pressing Tab pushed the whole line to the right as if I put the tab at the beginning.
@nerobot could you fix Tab when you press it on any line after typing some text it tabs the text along instead of from where the cursor is the original Ted and Ted2Go does the same which is annoying if your intending on adding remarks to the end of lines and want them nicely justified.
I will have a read through when I get the chance and will contact you if there is any problems or give it the thumbs up if there isn’t. I would do the pull request as more eyes looking makes for better docs
I will have a go at adding some information and examples to the docs it will be slow going as at present I am redecorating and rebuilding parts of our home. When I get the odd moment I will go through each page and play with the command and do a basic example.
does this one use the numpad as pgup etc when numlock is off. Also space should cancel the intellisense popup
If it does it will be brilliant
For me the heyday of BRL was circa 1999-2003 there was a buzzing community then and you couldn’t read the threads without update after update. What we have now paled in comparison, you can ask a question now and it may never be answered. Back in the day there were ten or so posts to your thread after a few hours.
@taiphoz one other thing that also happened with the first split was LOADS of coders became disillusioned and moved to other languages and systems. For me the first split was the worst thing that happened in a BRL sense as it gave the old community a sense of abandonment that the lacklustre updates at the time galvanised.
Mark should just merge EVERY community together before he looses all the people that use his stuff. Yes the original community is more active than BOTH the monkey communities combined.
I know over the years I have been critical of some areas of BRL’s business model and products BUT to be honest some of us are still here.
For me the whole thing is a bit to early to speculate on, I would not actually say it’s v1 as all the features that are needed for the whole experience aren’t present yet. Once everything is in there then we can speculate on it :). I do agree that past languages do not do Mark any favours as there are loads of disgruntled coder there and to be honest does give a negative image as well.
I would really rename Monkey to Blitz so it’s BlitzX2 which does give a more BRL language thing and no more renames the next just becomes BlitzX3. Version control is just a . version so it would be BlitzX2.0.1 etc.
I really would like to see this one be a success it’s all down to Mark where it goes but jumping from core coding to 3d just because he needs the cash doesn’t help matters as there is still loads of the core that needs polish to make it shine.
@adamstrange thanks will take a look at that
very nice is it easy to hook into OpenGL using MX2?
will try to reproduce once I sort out my Ubuntu install, the Creator win10 update ‘fixed’ it for me.
With MonkeyX1 all versions worked on all desktop systems from the one directory. I was wondering if the X2 system was the same from experience it doesn’t seem to be.
If I have to have separate versions for X2 it doesn’t bother me I run from a 16Gb flash drive so I have the space
I was trying a Windows 10 (64bit) and Ubuntu Linux 14.04LTS (64bit)
